Get
Your Ceiling Fans in Shape for the Heating Season
- Clean the motor housing, the blades and blade irons
- Check for an oil hole on top of the motor-if there is one,
add 5 - 6 drops of light machine oil
- Set the fan to blow up for the heating season by pushing
the switch up or reversing the angle of the blades

Grading - August
For Grading...not as in report cards, but as in
the slope of the land around your home. We have
had some rains this year that could have caused
the soil around your home to get packed down. As
the ground settles and changes, that “slope” can
move toward your home instead of away from it. As
we get into the hottest days of summer, and the
ground dries more, the potential for drainage problems
increases. It is critical to walk around the perimeter
of your home to check that the ground slopes sufficiently
away from the foundation. Add more dirt if necessary.
Make sure your downspouts have extensions to carry
the water away from the home. Don’t let landscaping
edges or beds trap water and hold it close to the
home. They should be level to the grass, so water
can run away freely. |

Air Conditioner - July
For optimal air conditioner performance, be sure to keep
your unit free of any grass clippings. Using a leaf blower
is a great way to accomplish this task after each mowing.
Replacing sod with mulch or gravel can cut down on the
amount of clippings near the unit. Also, trim away any
overgrown plantings that poke into the air conditioner.

Deck Maintenance - June
With summer quickly approaching, June is a good
time to clean and seal your wood decks. Ideally,
you will need three consecutive warm, sunny days.
On day one, dry out the deck. Apply deck cleaner
and scrub the deck the second day, and let it dry
24 hours. On the third day, apply the deck sealer. |
